Can blockchain make capital markets settle in real time?
Sep 21, 2026

Hana Bank has issued a $100 million digital bond through Euroclear’s blockchain-based Digital Financial Market Infrastructure, completing the transaction with same-day settlement.
The five-year bond achieved T+0 settlement, with allocations and payments completed on the issuance date. Conventional foreign currency bond transactions typically take three to five business days to settle, making the transaction a notable example of how blockchain infrastructure can streamline capital market processes.
The issuance also marked the first time a Korean financial institution directly used Euroclear’s blockchain infrastructure to issue a digital bond. Standard Chartered acted as the sole lead manager for the transaction.
